ElectSloan Campaign Update Feb. 12, 2019
Last week’s highlights
Campaign electSloan had another great week connecting with constituents—on the doorsteps, in meetings with community leaders and at our latest meet-and-greet. With your help, we managed to accomplish most of our goals, despite another round of snow and freezing rain.
Some of the best parts of this campaign so far are our ongoing visits with Reeves and Mayors across H-L&A. These are truly inspirational people who give so much in order to make their communities better, and they are in touch with the issues that affect average people every single day. We are hearing about unnecessary red tape and barriers to their accessing funds, and about the need for municipalities to be respected and treated fairly. They also are unimpressed by loud announcements of funding (some of which is actually NOT new money), followed by either only a trickle of actual money or none at all. This needs to change, and we would love to see improvements for these communities with a win for Derek Sloan and a Conservative government in Ottawa! Last week, Derek had excellent discussions with Reeve Henry Hogg of Addington Highlands, and with Tweed Mayor Jo-Anne Albert.
Last Thursday’s meet-and-greet at Deadleaf Barbershop in Napanee was also a big success—a unique and fun atmosphere, drinks, delicious food from Ellena's & great conversations. We were also given some donations on the spot, which is always welcome!
On the canvassing front, the team knocked on doors in the communities of Tweed and Bath this past weekend. We are so thankful for the volunteers that are coming out to help.
We are building our list of volunteers, so if you’d like to get involved, please email us at email@example.com. Knocking on doors is the single most important thing we do as Campaign electSloan. It really is a fun experience, and remember, you will be trained on our simple procedure and you won’t be sent to a door alone.
- Watch for the roll-out of our special donors’ club in the next few weeks!
- We will be knocking on doors in Amherstview the weekend of Feb. 23 and 24—would you like to join us? Email firstname.lastname@example.org and watch for updates on our Facebook page.
Help send Derek to Ottawa, and get a tax benefit at the same time!
Did you know that when you donate to our local Conservative association, that money stays right here in HLA to help elect Derek? And up to 75% of your donation could be eligible for a tax credit on your 2019 tax return. Election campaigns are expensive, and the money needed comes almost exclusively from donations from individuals in our riding. We can accept donations from individuals only (not from corporations or businesses). Cheques should be made payable to H-L&A Conservative Association and sent to PO Box 111, Madoc, Ontario, K0K 2K0. We cannot accept cash or credit card information through the mail; however, you can donate online at: www.hlaconservative.ca/donate.
NOTE: The new limit for 2019 is $1600, up from $1575.
Thanks for your continued support, and we look forward to meeting up with you on the campaign trail!
