Weekly Update

July 10 2019

Last Week around H-L&A

Last weekend was another national Super Canvass--teams were knocking on doors and sharing our positive, Conservative message in communities all over Canada. We participated in the Super Canvass by knocking on doors in Stirling last weekend. To see pics of SuperCanvassers from across the country, check out the CPC Volunteer Team account on Twitter at https://twitter.com/cpcvolunteer

Our Napanee office is up and running at 21 Dundas St. W! We will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the summer from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; hours will increase in September. Drop in to say hello to our wonderful volunteer office managers, Karen Hampel & Donna Shabinsky!

Upcoming events

We'll be canvassing several times in a number of locations all over the riding this week and will need volunteers to help us knock on doors! No experience is necessary; we will give you training on our simple canvassing strategy, and you will be paired up with an experienced campaigner. All are welcome! Email us at info@electSloan.ca if you can join us.

One of our major campaign events this summer will take place at the Hastings County Plowing Match & Farm Show in Centre Hastings on August 21/22. This event brings out thousands of visitors from both H-L&A and Bay of Quinte ridings. We are partnering with Bay of Quinte candidate Tim Durkin and his campaign team at this event, and we expect a number of important Conservatives to stop by. We’d love to see you there--stop by our tent, grab some free popcorn & cold water, listen to some live music and just relax out of the sun! If you’d like to help out at this fun event, please email info@electsloan.ca.

ElectSloan Volunteer Profile--Meet Mike Bennett

Mike is an enthusiastic volunteer with Campaign electSloan and has been out knocking on doors with Derek and the team across the riding. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the H-L&A Conservative Electoral District Association. Mike is an immigrant from St. Lucia who has been in Canada for almost nine years. He is married to Nicole and they have “three crazy boys”. Since moving to Canada, Mike has started his own business framing houses. He says, “I am a life-long Christian, and I first met Derek at church. I just knew he was a guy that I would like to hang out with after hearing him speak for the first time. I campaign for him because I believe that he is genuine about wanting to help others and he has a good heart.” The rest of the team at Campaign electSloan agree wholeheartedly and are very thankful for what Mike is doing to help turn this riding blue in October!

Speaking of fantastic volunteers like Mike…

We’d love to have you join our team! Your help is crucial to turning this riding blue in October. We need door canvassers, phone canvassers, lawn sign distributers (we need one in each municipality), election day & advance poll scrutineers and volunteer drivers. This is a winnable riding, but we will only succeed with an army of volunteers! To sign up, drop by our Napanee office (21 Dundas St. W.), email us at info@electsloan.ca or call 343-645-5492.

Update from the national Party

We are very excited about the coming months of the campaign, partly because the Party is now beginning to release more specifics on the Conservative platform.

In a series of speeches called “My Vision for Canada,” Andrew Scheer has addressed Foreign Policy, the Economy, Immigration, Confederation and the Environment. You can watch and read these speeches at www.myvisionforcanada.ca.

Follow us on social media

We are sharing information about our campaign on social media with news and timely updates on the campaign activities and events, as well as communications from our party and our leader, Andrew Scheer. Follow us and share our content with your friends! You can stay up-to-date on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ElectSloanHLA on Twitter at https://twitter.com/DerekSloanCPC, and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/electsloan.

Join the Victory Club

To reach our goal of being election-ready, we are launching Victory Club, a program that will go a long way towards reaching our fundraising target and will give us the necessary tools to run a successful campaign. Our target can be reached if only 250 people donate $400. A $400 donation costs you only $100 out-of-pocket after the generous tax credit! And remember, every eligible member of your household can donate separately and join our Victory Club. We recently had a husband and wife donate $400 each--$800 for the campaign and only $200 out-of-pocket for them! See below for donation info.

As always, we are grateful for your support for this Campaign and we will keep working together to spread our positive Conservative vision for Canada and for Hastings—Lennox & Addington. Donations of any amount are always welcome: When you give to our local Conservative association (up to the 2019 max. of $1600), that money stays right here in HLA, and up to 75% of your donation could be eligible for a tax credit on your 2019 tax return. We can accept donations from Canadian individuals only (not from corporations or businesses). Cheques should be made payable to H-L&A Conservative Association and sent to PO Box 111, Madoc, Ontario, K0K 2K0. We cannot accept cash or credit card information through the mail; however, you can donate online at: www.electsloan.ca/donate.

With thanks
