Campaign electSloan Weekly Update
March 13 2019
Last Week around H-L&A
I had an excellent meeting this week with Jim Pine, Chief Administrative officer of Hastings County. We discussed affordable housing, cell and internet needs. I personally commit to fighting for funding to expand cell and internet coverage for our riding; I am also committing to fighting for an increase in affordable housing funding. Our municipalities need more help in this regard, and too much has been downloaded to them from the province and feds!

We had lots of stop-ins around the riding, including a meeting with Jack McAvoy of Napanee’s 88.7 MyFM. The shamrock is in support of Camden Arthur, a local Napanee boy who is fighting cancer.

We also had very informative meetings with Bob Mullins, Mayor of Stirling-Rawdon, and Jan O’Neill, Mayor of Marmora & Lake; we appreciate these opportunities to learn more about the unique challenges facing municipalities in H-L&A from the community leaders who are on the front lines.

And check out our new campaign gear, coming soon to a community near you!
It’s always a good day to stop at the Mackinnon Brothers Brewery in Bath. I always enjoy being part of a local business tour--what a great spot and a terrific example of local entrepreneurship!
This Sunday, March 17 we will be canvassing in Madoc (on Sunday only). Please join us from 2:00 to 5:00—we will meet at 2:00 on Sunday in the parking lot of Madoc Public School, 32 Baldwin St.. No experience is necessary; we will give you training on our simple canvassing strategy, and you will be paired up with an experienced campaigner. All are welcome! Email us at info@electSloan.ca if you can join us.
We are looking forward to a “Spring into the Campaign” event on March 20 at the Waterfront Pub in Napanee; thanks to our friend Marg Werry for organizing this meet-and-greet. This is an opportunity for people in Greater Napanee to meet Derek & the campaign team; we hope to see you there!
Join the Victory Club!
To reach our goal of being election-ready, we are launching Victory Club, a program that will go a long way towards reaching our fundraising target and will give us the necessary tools to run a successful campaign. Our target can be reached if only 250 people donate $400. A $400 donation costs you only $100 out-of-pocket after the generous tax credit! And remember, every eligible member of your household can donate separately and join our Victory Club. We recently had a husband and wife donate $400 each--$800 for the campaign and only $200 out-of-pocket for them! See below for donation info.
As always, we are grateful for your support for this Campaign and we will keep working together to spread our positive Conservative vision for Canada and for Hastings—Lennox & Addington. Donations of any amount are always welcome: When you give to our local Conservative association (up to the 2019 max. of $1600), that money stays right here in HLA, and up to 75% of your donation could be eligible for a tax credit on your 2019 tax return. We can accept donations from Canadian individuals only (not from corporations or businesses). Cheques should be made payable to H-L&A Conservative Association and sent to PO Box 111, Madoc, Ontario, K0K 2K0. We cannot accept cash or credit card information through the mail; however, you can donate online at: www.hlaconservative.ca/donate.
