Campaign electSloan Weekly Update

April 30 2019

Last Week around H-L&A

Last Sunday was a beautiful day to canvass in Tamworth. We knocked on doors, identified more supporters and shared our positive message.

I also had the opportunity to meet with Keith Henry of Maple Dale Cheese in Plainfield this week. We had a good conversation and Keith explained how his famous cheese is made locally and shared some of the challenges facing his industry. Small, local businesses are at the core of what makes Hastings-Lennox & Addington a unique, prosperous and exciting place to live.

This past Saturday I attended our H-L&A Conservative Electoral District Association (EDA) Annual General Meeting at the Land O'Lakes Curling Club in Tweed. Our EDA elected a new Board of Directors, which will continue to give great leadership to the Conservative movement in this riding, and of course I am so thankful for the support they give to Campaign ElectSloan! MP Jamie Schmale (Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock) was there as a special guest, and gave an encouraging talk. His riding and ours have many similarities, and we are looking forward to painting this riding blue as well!

Canvassing this week

We have another National Super Canvass coming up this Sunday afternoon, May 5 from 2:00 to 5:00. Every riding in the country will have volunteers out knocking on doors this weekend - we'll be participating in Napanee. We’ll meet in the parking lot of Napanee District Secondary School at 245 Belleville Rd. Remember, no experience is necessary and we'll team you up with an experienced door-knocker and teach you our simple canvassing technique. Email us at info@electsloan.ca if you can make it!

Upcoming events!

Just a few days until our riding welcomes MP Michelle Rempel! Join us on Friday, May 3 from 6pm - 9pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Napanee, 26 Mill St East.

Ms. Rempel is the Conservative MP for Calgary Nose Hill and the Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Immigration. She has been extremely dynamic and effective in Question Period: one of the issues on which she has been most active is border security, and the need to preserve a Canadian system of immigration that is orderly, fair and compassionate. During her visit, Ms Rempel plans to meet with several community groups that work with refugees.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and can be purchased at www.electsloan.ca/events. (This event is being run on a cost-recovery basis.)

We’re pleased to announce that Ed Fast will be visiting our riding on June 13! Ed Fast is the MP for Abbotsford and the Shadow Minister for Environment and Climate Change. Looking forward to hearing about the Party’s positive and effective plans for conservation and protecting our environment! Stay tuned for more details.

Join the Victory Club!

To reach our goal of being election-ready, we are launching Victory Club, a program that will go a long way towards reaching our fundraising target and will give us the necessary tools to run a successful campaign. Our target can be reached if only 250 people donate $400. A $400 donation costs you only $100 out-of-pocket after the generous tax credit! And remember, every eligible member of your household can donate separately and join our Victory Club. We recently had a husband and wife donate $400 each--$800 for the campaign and only $200 out-of-pocket for them! See below for donation info.

As always, we are grateful for your support for this Campaign and we will keep working together to spread our positive Conservative vision for Canada and for Hastings—Lennox & Addington. Donations of any amount are always welcome: When you give to our local Conservative association (up to the 2019 max. of $1600), that money stays right here in HLA, and up to 75% of your donation could be eligible for a tax credit on your 2019 tax return. We can accept donations from Canadian individuals only (not from corporations or businesses). Cheques should be made payable to H-L&A Conservative Association and sent to PO Box 111, Madoc, Ontario, K0K 2K0. We cannot accept cash or credit card information through the mail; however, you can donate online at https://www.electsloan.ca/donate

With thanks,
